News: National Geographic Explorer selects Justin Hall as one of its new correspondence for prized global series.
National Geographic Explorer has earned more than 400 Awards. including 85 Emmy Awards, 13 Cable Ace Awards, the Peabody Award and 2 Academy Awards: Its a big big deal… here’s their latest promo: No Pressure Then!!! It’s been a little hush until recently but… with the series promo running across Europe and America, and having been invited to New York in April to give a talk at the Nat Geo ‘Upfronts’ (Int. Press event introducing new series & talent), I guess I can share the exciting news;
My first journey for Explorer catapulted me into the Wilds of Congo DRC.
It’s a story of heroes and villains, wonderous nature set against the backdrop of one of the most complex brutal realities endured by the people of the region.
The show part of Series 9 airs next year (see clips here) and wonderfully will coincide with the cover story to be published in the National Geographic Magazine. I’m so proud to be a small part of this core project.
In a world so crowded out with scripted reality shows, hammy heroes and macho endeavours for no reason, it’s wonderful to find a series, and channel bold enough to tell it like it is…
It’s an enormous honour… a massive challenge that holds such great promise, In my mind a promise of integrity, a promise to tell stories that matter, seeking out and highlighting the lesser-known, coming alongside real heroes and villains and stories that truly need to be told.
For my part, I couldn’t be more thankful. I can only hope that my first assignment in the Congo is just to start of many to come!
